Interview Prep

Congrats on getting your foot in the door!

Whether this is for an open role or an informational interview, getting your story straight is a huge part of advocating for your value.

Prepare your stories

Be ready to talk about…

  • What you're looking for in your next role

  • Categories or clients you want to work on

  • 3 strengths, with examples

  • 1 weakness, and what you’re doing to improve

  • Why you want to work there

  • 2-3 stories about projects that back up your qualifications for the job

“Tell me about yourself”…

  • One-breath explanation of your professional self

  • What you’ve been learning/doing

  • What you're eager to find next

“What questions do you have for me?”

  • What are the company’s priorities? What’s changing?

  • What does a project process typically look like?

  • How do people stay inspired and engaged?

  • What are your priority projects or clients?

  • What partners or vendors do you work with?

  • How is your holding company involved?

  • What does the agency do best?

  • What work is the agency is most proud of?

  • How does the agency operate? Structured or scrappy?

  • How many people work on the team? How is a project staffed?

  • What’s been your favorite moment working here?
